The Marvel’s Avengers open beta weekend is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Originally scheduled to launch at 9pm in all time zones on August 21, it went live almost eight hours early. The open beta runs until 9pm local time on Sunday, August 23.

It includes four single-player campaign Hero Missions and three HARM Room challenges, plus four War Zones and five Drop Zones, which can be played solo with AI companions or cooperatively in groups of up to four players.

It’s the third consecutive weekend of beta testing for Square Enix’s superhero game. The first weekend was only available to PS4 pre-order customers, while the second was open to all PS4 players as well as Xbox One and PC pre-order customers.

Returning players can check out the latest beta patch notes to see what’s been fixed since last weekend’s test.

Marvel’s Avengers will be released for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia on September 4, 2020. Avengers is also set to launch on next-generation consoles later this year and owners of the current-gen version will be able to upgrade at no additional cost.

Speaking during a financial results briefing this month, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said the publisher’s expectations for Marvel’s Avengers are “very high” and that it plans to extend the life of the service game with “powerful add-on content”.
