Nintendo has announced a special Game & Watch dedicated to The Legend of Zelda.
The new handheld will be released on November 12 to celebrate Zelda’s 35th anniversary and will contain four games:

- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
- Link’s Awakening (Game Boy)
- a special version of Game & Watch title Vermin with Link replacing the Mr Game & Watch character

This is the second time in as many years that Nintendo is releasing a special edition Game & Watch to celebrate a memorable series’ anniversary.
Last November, Nintendo released a Game & Watch for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, which contained both the NES original and its Famicom Disk System sequel Super Mario Bros 2 (also known as The Lost Levels), as well as a special version of classic Game & Watch title Ball with a Mario makeover.
Like the Mario edition, the Zelda Game & Watch also includes a digital clock which plays a variety of animations.
In VGC’s Super Mario Game & Watch review, we said: “The Super Mario Bros Game & Watch is surely the most desirable stocking-filler on the market this Christmas (and so it should be, you might argue, with a slightly steep £49.99 RRP).
“Nintendo, as ever, has mined its back catalogue cleverly to create a piece of hardware that will induce intense feelings of nostalgia in anyone who was brought up in the 1980s, yet takes advantage of modern technology. No self-respecting Nintendo fan-person should go without one.”
