The latest Marvel’s Avengers patch is displaying players’ IP addresses on-screen
Crystal Dynamics says it’s “urgently investigating” the bug and warns players not to stream the game
The latest Marvel’s Avengers patch has introduced a bug which displays sensitive player information on-screen, including the user’s IP address.
Patch 1.8.0 launched on Tuesday, introducing new villain Monica and the Cosmic Threat event, alongside the bug, which also reportedly shows the player’s username.
“We’re aware of the issue where a floating string of text appears on the screen and are investigating,” Crystal Dynamics tweeted following the update’s release, later adding: “Please refrain from streaming for now if you’re experiencing this issue. We will update when this issue has been resolved.”
It also tweeted the following in response to a concerned user: “We apologize for this bug, the team is on it and urgently investigating. Thank you for reporting this to us so quickly.”
UPDATE: Crystal Dynamics has suggested that the issue is limited to PlayStation 5 players and said it intends to release a hotfix on Wednesday at around 8am PT / 11am ET / 2pm BST.

Forbes reporter Paul Tassi published a screenshot showing what the bug looked like in action, with the sensitive information blacked out.
“Honestly, this is one of the worst bugs I’ve ever heard of,” Tassi wrote. “People getting ahold of your IP address can cause all manor of havoc with your internet connection with DDOS attacks, or potentially get their hands on other information. I don’t know what the other string of numbers that appears alongside it due to this bug is, but I imagine that can’t be good either.”
