The Last of Us season 2 trailer shows first look at Abby
The show is due to premiere next year
HBO has released the first trailer for The Last of Us season 2.
The trailer, which can be viewed below shows off several key scenes from the original game, including Joel teaching Ellie how to play the guitar. The trailer also gives the first look at Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.
The trailer heavily features the song Future Days by Pearl Jam, which is the song that Joel performs for Ellie during the opening of the second game.
Catherine O’Hara appears in the trailer playing an unknown character.
It’s not yet been confirmed what role O’Hara plays in the show, but fans have speculated that she could be the prophet of the Seraphites.
The Seraphites are one of the factions in The Last of Us Part 2, but their founder dies before the events of the game so she’s never actually encountered.
Because The Last of Us series covers scenes that weren’t featured in the game, some fans have suggested that O’Hara is playing that character.
Season two of The Last of Us will be released in 2025. Other new additions to the cast include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jessie, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Spencer Lord as Owen.
It’s been confirmed that the season will run for seven episodes, which is two fewer than in season one.
Season two won’t cover the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2, and series co-creator Craig Mazin has said the series could run beyond three seasons.
