The Last Of Us remake footage leaks online, ‘no gameplay improvements’ claimed
UPDATE: Six minutes of footage has leaked, showing off combat and weapon upgrading
Footage and comparison images from The Last Of Us Part 1 emerged online last night.
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains a major spoiler warning for the first sequence in The Last of Us.
As posted to ResetEra, the images, which have been mirrored on Imgur, show off Joel’s brother Tommy, Tess and a brief clip of the game’s opening sequence.
Update
Six minutes of The Last Of Us Part 1 remake footage has leaked, showing off combat and weapon upgrading, among other features.
It’s also been claimed by the person who leaked the images that the game has “no gameplay improvements” and that the upgrades are primarily to animation and audio.
It was widely speculated that The Last Of Us Part 1 would adopt The Last Of Us Part 2’s improved movement and shooting mechanics.
The game reportedly supports VRR and will feature two visual modes, a “gameplay mode” which will run at 4K 40fps and a “dynamic mode” which will run at 4K 60fps.
While it’s unclear where these leaks have emerged from, it should be noted that prior to the release of The Last Of Us Part 2, huge spoilers flooded the internet and long gameplay clips, including pivotal plot scenes, were posted to social media well in advance of release.
The source of that leak was eventually believed to be a QA tester who had been testing the game at home, due to the COVID pandemic, which had just begun as The Last Of Us Part 2 was being tested in early 2020.

The leak also claims that the game will feature the large number of accessibility options featured in The Last of Us Part 2, and that when the player upgrades their weapons, this will be represented visually.

Studio co-president Neil Druckmann said the title is as big as any of the studio’s single-player games. It has its own story, a brand-new cast of characters, and more information is scheduled to be revealed in 2023.
The writer and creative director behind The Last of Us games and Uncharted 4 also confirmed that he’s directing a new game.
