The Last of Us Part 1’s launch trailer is here ahead of next week’s release
The game will be available for PS5 first and is also in development for PC
Sony Interactive Entertainment has released the launch trailer for The Last of Us Part 1, which is viewable below.
The Last of Us Part 1 is billed as a faithful reproduction of the original game, which was released for PS3 in 2013, with modernised gameplay and controls, plus expanded accessibility options.
The Last of Us Part I will be released for PS5 on September 2, with the review embargo lifting on August 31 at 8am PT / 4pm BST.
The game is also in development for PC, and while a release date has yet to be confirmed, one Naughty Dog employee has claimed it will arrive “very soon after” the PS5 version.
Naughty Dog released the first official The Last of Us Part 1 gameplay in late July following a series of leaks that developers described as ‘disheartening, frustrating and hurtful’.
The 10-minute features and gameplay deep dive video includes interviews with the title’s directors, who discuss “how the team went in and rebuilt the beloved game from the ground up”.
The first official footage from HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of Us was shown last weekend.
Consisting of around 20 seconds of clips, it appears at the end of a promo video advertising shows coming to HBO Max. The show’s premiere date is not given – instead, the video simply says it’s “coming next year”.
