Five new actors have joined the cast of Paramount’s upcoming Knuckles TV series.

While details of their character are being kept secret, Deadline reports that Cary Elwes (Glory, Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Stockard Channing (West Wing, The Matthew Shepard Story), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Addams Family), Paul Scheer (Veep, The Good Place) and Rob Huebel (Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office) are the show’s latest confirmed cast members.

The series, which will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service, is a spin-off of the studio’s live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

Its new stars join Idris Elba, who’s reprising his role as Knuckles’ voice actor, and Adam Pally, who played police officer Wade Whipple in both movies.

The show will also star Edi Patterson (Knives Out), Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up) and UK comedian Ellie Taylor in recurring roles.

Guest stars will include Rory McCann (who played The Hound in Game of Thrones) and Tika Sumpter, who will reprise her role as Maddie from the Sonic movies.

Taking place between the Sonic 2 and 3 movies, the series follows Knuckles as he “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior”, according to Paramount’s official plot synopsis.

Production on the show recently started in London, with Jeff Fowler – who directed both Sonic movies – in the director’s chair for the pilot episode. He’ll also executive produce the entire series.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to arrive in cinemas in December 2024, and will likely see Shadow the Hedgehog introduced to the series.

During a recent earnings presentation, Sega said it’s interested in the possibility of adapting other IPs for the big screen, following the success of the Sonic movies.
