The Horizon Zero Dawn PC release date has been announced

Guerrilla’s game makes the jump from PlayStation to PC in August

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it will release Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC on August 7.

The PC version of Guerrilla Games’ open-world game will be available via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Sony has also released a PC features trailer to coincide with today’s launch date announcement. It promises ultra-wide support, unlocked framerates, dynamic foliage, graphical customisation, improved reflections, and a benchmarking tool.

Originally released in February 2017, the post-apocalyptic title has sold over 10 million copies.

Horizon’s PC launch will mark the first time a major PlayStation exclusive game from a Sony-owned studio has been released for PC.

Hermen Hulst, formerly the managing director of Guerrilla and now head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, commented on Sony’s plans in the PC space in March.

“To maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC”, he said.

“In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”

Guerrilla announced Horizon 2: Forbidden West for PlayStation 5 in June ahead of a planned 2021 release date.

PlayStation is laying the groundwork for the PS5 sequel with the release of a Horizon Zero Dawn comic book series co-created by Anne Toole, one of the writers of the game.

Prior to the sequel’s announcement, VGC revealed that PlayStation and Guerrilla are planning a Horizon Zero Dawn trilogy.
