The Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores launch trailer has been released
Aloy heads to the untamed wilds of LA in next week’s expansion
Sony has released the launch trailer for Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores expansion, which is viewable below.
Priced at $20/£16 and set for release on April 19, the PS5 DLC picks up Aloy’s story right where Horizon Forbidden West left off.
This means that to enter the Burning Shores, players need to have completed the main quest in the base game.
Burning Shores will introduce a hazardous new location for players to explore, plus new characters and machines to encounter.
“South of the Tenakth Clan Lands, millennia of volcanic eruptions and violent seismic activity have carved the ruins of Los Angeles into a treacherous archipelago,” Sony says.
“Experience the next chapter of Horizon Forbidden West as Aloy pursues a sinister new threat to the planet, hidden among these dangerous, untamed wilds.”
Customers who pre-order the DLC will receive access to two digital bonuses, the Blacktide Dye Outfit and the Blacktide Sharpshot Bow.
The expansion isn’t coming to PS4 despite the base game, 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West, being released for Sony‘s current and last-gen consoles.
“On Horizon Forbidden West, everything we added or increased was something we’d need to have a plan around how to optimize for PS4 as well,” Guerrilla game director Mathijs de Jonge recently told the PlayStation Blog.
“On Burning Shores, since we can just focus on PS5, we’ve been able to charge forward and we’re really excited about what we’ve been able to pull off in creating this stunning post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.”
