The Game Awards will reportedly have at least two ‘holy sh*t’ game announcements

At least two announcements at The Game Awards will make fans say “holy shit”, a prominent reporter claims.

Speaking about Thursday’s show on Kinda Funny Games Daily, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier also said that he expects to see early trailers for games that are much further away.

Citing Monolith’s Wonder Woman game and Star Wars: Eclipse, both of which were first shown at The Game Awards, Schreier claimed that when Wonder Woman was first announced that game was “nothing”.

“There is a good chance you’ll see one of two teaser trailers for games that won’t be out for 2026 or later,” Schreier said.

However, when pressed by host Tim Gettys about whether there would be big announcements to be excited about, Schreier replied: “There are at least two things that will make you guys reacting say ‘holy shit, I can’t believe it’s here’.”

The Game Awards will be streamed live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 12, starting at 4.30pm PT / 7.30pm ET (December 13 at 12:30am GMT).

Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are both up for seven prizes, including Game of the Year.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is The Game Awards’ most nominated publisher in 2024 with 16 nominations, followed by Square Enix and Xbox with 12 nominations each, and Sega with 11.

Organisers say to expect “awards, world premiere new game announcements, and musical performances by The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Balfe”.
