The Game Awards 2021: Where to watch today’s event live
Event promises world premieres, awards and musical performances
The Game Awards 2021 will take place later today at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and you’ll be able to watch it live right here.
The eighth edition of the annual event will be a major production featuring an on-stage orchestra, musical performances, celebrity guests, the actual awards, plus a host of game reveals.
The main events begins at 8pm ET / 5pm PT on December 9 (1am GMT on December 10), with a pre-show steam starting half an hour earlier.
It will be viewable on various platforms including Twitch, Twitter and Facebook, while we’ve embedded the YouTube stream at the top of this page.
The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley expects 40-50 games to be on show at this year’s event in one form or another and new titles being announced to number in the double digits.
Games set to be shown at the event include Arc Raiders, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Dying Light 2, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are also set to debut a new Unreal Engine 5 demo titled The Matrix Awakens, Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz will reveal the first movie trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Paramount will premiere the first trailer for its upcoming Halo TV show.
The nominees for The Game Awards 2021 were revealed last month, with 30 awards up for grabs.
Arkane’s Deathloop is nominated for nine prizes, Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is up for six, while Hazelight’s It Takes Two and Double Fine’s Psychonauts each received five nominations.
