The Forgotten City is being released for Switch today as a cloud game

Critically acclaimed indie title The Forgotten City is being released for Nintendo Switch today.

Developer Modern Storyteller and publisher Dear Villagers are launching the historical time loop thriller on Nintendo’s console as a stream-only game via the cloud service Ubitus.

Like the cloud versions of Control and Hitman 3 previously released for Switch, and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, The Forgotten City will require a stable and permanent internet connection to play.

Players will be able to download a free demo to test the game for a limited amount of time before deciding whether to purchase the full version.

The Forgotten City released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in July, when the Switch version was billed as “to follow in Q3 2021”.

The game was very well received, garnering Metacritic scores in the 80s across all platforms and ‘overwhelmingly positive’ users reviews on Steam.

“Travel 2,000 years into the past and relive the final days of a cursed Roman city, where if one person sins, everyone dies,” reads an official description of the title.

“Unravel the mystery at the city’s heart by exploiting its deadly time loop, questioning locals, exploring, and solving puzzles. The fate of the city is in your hands.”
