The first Xbox Series X/S unboxing videos have been published

The first Xbox Series X/S unboxing videos approved by Microsoft have been published by various media outlets.

Microsoft started distributing Xbox Series X preview units to press and influencers in September, but unboxing videos of retail units have been embargoed until now.

The first unofficial Xbox Series X unboxing video was published earlier this month, while a second one followed last week.

Launching worldwide on November 10, Xbox Series X is priced at $499/€499/£449 and Xbox Series S costs $300/$300/£249.

Speaking during Microsoft’s first quarter earnings call on Tuesday, CEO Satya Nadella said: “We are delighted by early reviews and excitement in the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, which will be the most affordable and the most powerful consoles available.”

Initial Xbox Series X stock was snapped up quickly, with some retailers later informing players they might not receive their console on the day of release.

Microsoft has said it plans to make more Xbox Series X/S consoles available on launch day after “record-breaking” demand for the next-gen systems.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said he expects Xbox Series S to outsell Xbox Series X over the course of the generation, and suggested Microsoft has already begun working on future Xbox Series console iterations.

The first PS5 unboxing videos were published by various media outlets on Tuesday, after US-based publications received their review units last week. Press have also finally been able to compare the size of retail PS5 units to other consoles.
