The first Modern Warfare 2 trailer is out, confirming June 8 reveal

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s worldwide reveal will be next week, according to a debut trailer featuring Task Force 141.

The teaser, titled “Ultimate Team” shows soldiers in a dark truck riding toward a battlefield, before the trailer ends announcing the full gameplay reveal, which will take place on June 8.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is due to release on October 28, 2022.

The characters in the trailer, including cover star Ghost, appear to be Task Force 141, the stars of the new game’s campaign.

Activision recently announced that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date is October 28, 2022.

“Task Force 141 makes its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans,” the trailer’s accompanying blurb reads.

“These Operators include Captain John Price, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, John ‘Soap’ MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick and introducing Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas.” Activision said at the time of the game’s reveal.

A low-quality Modern Warfare 2 gameplay clip seemingly leaked earlier this month ahead of the first official gameplay showing, which is expected in early June.

As first reported by VGC in September 2021, Modern Warfare 2’s campaign will be centred around the drug war against Columbian cartels.

Sources said the single-player story is “a grittier take on Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign”, with more close-quarters combat, tricky decision making, and the classic Call of Duty set-piece moments fans have come to expect.

Artwork from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has appeared on Steam, suggesting that the series may be returning to Valve‘s platform for the first time in seven years.
