The first media-captured Xbox Series X game footage shows Dirt 5’s visual modes
Players can prioritise framerate or resolution
Media outlets have published the first user-captured footage of an Xbox Series X next-gen game, showing Codemasters’ Dirt 5 in action.
The racing game is set to feature various visual modes on Microsoft’s high-end console, including a framerate mode which sacrifices resolution to run at around 60fps, and a resolution mode which runs dynamically up to 4K.
A third 120fps mode sacrifices both resolution and framerate to hit the high fps count, which is only supported by newer televisions with HDMI 2.1.
Dirt 5 will be an Xbox Series S/X launch title on November 10, 2020, with the current-gen console and PC versions arriving on November 6. The game will offer a free next-gen upgrade plan on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Dirt 5 was originally scheduled to be released on October 9 before being delayed by one week, and it was subsequently delayed again “to take advantage of the next generation console launches”.
Codemasters has confirmed that Dirt 5 saves won’t be transferable from the PS4 version of the game to the PS5 one. In contrast, Xbox players will be able to carry over all progress from the current-gen version to the Series X/S version, Codemasters has said.
Xbox Series X is priced at $499/€499/£449 and Xbox Series S costs $300/$300/£249. Both consoles are scheduled to launch on November 10.
