The first hour of Forspoken gameplay has leaked ahead of next week’s release
Square Enix’s game hits PS5 and PC on January 24
More than an hour of Forspoken gameplay has leaked ahead of the game’s official release next week.
The footage, which is viewable below, shows off approximately the first 75 minutes of Forspoken, which is the debut title from Square Enix’s Luminous Productions studio.
Forspoken follows Frey Holland, a young woman who is transported from New York to a beautiful but cruel land called Athia. In search of a way home, she must wield newfound magical powers to traverse the world and fend off the monstrous creatures that inhabit it.
Following a couple of delays, Forspoken will be released for PS5 and PC on January 24.
Square Enix released a PS5 demo in December, and on Tuesday it rolled out an update for the taster which added several new features. It introduced button mapping functionality, made locked-on enemies that move off-screen remain locked-on for longer, adjusted certain text sizes and fixed “various technical issues”.
“We’ve been listening to your reactions and feedback on the demo and we wanted to do whatever we could during this time to make the demo as enjoyable of an experience as possible,” said Forspoken creative producer Raio Mitsuno.
Square Enix also revealed the game’s minimum, recommended and ultra PC system requirements this week. They were announced alongside the release of a PC features trailer which is viewable above.
The publisher has said it’s aiming to deliver “the highest quality visuals ever seen in an open world game” with Forspoken, which will be a PlayStation console exclusive for at least two years.
