The first footage from HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 has been shown
The short montage shows Catherine O’Hara’s new character
The first footage from season two of The Last of US TV series has been shown.
The footage was shown at the end of a montage of shows coming to HBO and its streaming service Max in 2024 and 2025.
In the clip, Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) is asked “did you hurt her?” by an unknown character, played by Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone).
“No,” Joel replies.
“Then what?” O’Hara’s character asks. “What did you do?”
“I saved her,” Joel says, as a tear runs down his eye.
It’s not yet been confirmed what role O’Hara plays in the show, but fans have speculated that she could be the prophet of the Seraphites.
The Seraphites are one of the factions in The Last of Us Part 2, but their founder dies before the events of the game so she’s never actually encountered.
Because The Last of Us series covers scenes that weren’t featured in the game, however, some fans have suggested that O’Hara is playing that character.
Season two of The Last of Us will be released in 2025. Other new additions to the cast include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jessie, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Spencer Lord as Owen.
It’s been confirmed that the season will run for seven episodes, which is two fewer than in season one.
Season two won’t cover the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2, and series co-creator Craig Mazin has said the series could run beyond three seasons.
