The first alpha test for new Creative Assembly shooter Hyenas begins on Thursday
It’s running from July 14-18 for US-based PC players
PC players will get the chance to try out Creative Assembly’s new multiplayer shooter Hyenas when its first alpha test launches this week.
The alpha test, which is initially US-only and requires a Steam account, kicks off at 6am PT / 9am ET on July 14 and runs until 1am PT / 4am ET on July 18.
The first phase of the alpha will also be available to players in Europe at a later date. Players interested in participating can register here for a chance to do so.
Future test phases will be available in more regions and on more platforms, according to an FAQ which lists the following PC specs for playing Hyenas:
Minimum specs
- OS: Windows 7
- Processor: Quad core processor running at 2.5 Ghz
- RAM: 10GB
- VRAM: 5GB
- DirectX: 12
- Drive Space: ~31GB
Recommended specs
- OS: 64bit Windows 10
- Processor: Any 6th Gen Intel processor, or any Ryzen 1000 series or above
- RAM: 16GB
- VRAM: 6GB – Nvidia 1660 or AMD 5600 XT or Vega 556
- DirectX: 12
- Drive Space: ~31GB
“As this is the first alpha, the system requirements are high,” reads the FAQ. “The team is working hard on optimising the game and lowering these specs. We’ll have more updates for you in the future. A general rule of thumb at the moment is that if your PC is over 5 years old, you’ll likely be unable to run Hyenas.”
The long-anticipated shooter project from Creative Assembly was announced in June, when the Sega studio described it as a “multiplayer, multi-team robbery game”.
It sees five teams of three battle AI and each other to steal loot from vast spaceships with zero-g sections.

As expected from previous teases, Hyenas is full of pop culture references including nods to not just classic Sega franchises, but other games such as Fall Guys and League of Legends.
Hyenas is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC in 2023.
