The Division 2 Episode 1 DLC now available
Major content update out now for Pass holders, free for all from next week
Ubisoft has released the first in a series of major content updates for The Division 2.
Episode 1 – DC Outskirts: Expeditions adds two new story missions to the PS4, Xbox One and PC shooter RPG, plus a new PvE mode called Expeditions.
These headline features are now available to Division 2 Year 1 Pass holders, ahead of their free release for all players on Tuesday July 30.
Many more updates, features and balancing tweaks are now live for all players as part of the game’s latest title update.
During Ubisoft’s quarterly earnings call this month, the publisher claimed The Division 2 was the best-selling game worldwide in the first half of 2019.
Chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet also said Ubisoft was expecting to see a “nice” uptick in engagement and acquisition following the release of Episode 1.
“For the future, we plan to drive acquisitions and engagement with a significant post-launch release plan, including three major content updates available for free to all players, with additional narratives and missions, new PvE mode and new specialisations,” he said.
“Episode 1 – DC Outskirts: Expeditions, will start releasing on July 23. This major content update will include two new main missions, two classified assignments, a new Discovery difficulty setting for the raid, and the most demanded adjustments based on our community feedback. We expect it will have a nice boost to global activity and acquisition.”
Episode 2 will be released in fall 2019 and Episode 3 will launch in “early 2020”, Ubisoft confirmed at E3.
It also revealed that Netflix has signed the rights to the upcoming The Division movie. Starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, it will be directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2).
