The creator of a Witcher 3 vagina mod claims CD Projekt used it without permission

The creator of a mod which adds realistic vaginas to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt claims CD Projekt Red included it in the game’s next-gen release without their permission.

Witcher 3’s next-gen update was released in December as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and as a free patch for players who owned the game on PC and last-gen consoles.

Prior to its release, CD Projekt confirmed that the update included various community-made and community-inspired mods to improve visuals and overall game quality.

It recently emerged that one such mod introduced styled pubic hair and visible labia to some of the female NPCs in the game.

In a statement to Kotaku, CD Projekt said the mod’s addition was “unintended” and suggested it would be removed in an upcoming patch.

“The next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features several community-sourced mods not created by CD Projekt Red, on top of numerous enhancements created and implemented by the studio internally,” a spokesperson said. “Merging everything together was a complex process and the textures in question are an unintended result present in the release version. This is something we are working to address.”

The mod in question is an old Nexus Mods mod called Vaginas for Everyone, its creator has now claimed. And in a statement to Kotaku, they also accused CD Projekt of including it without their permission, although it has yet to be confirmed if this is indeed the case.

Regarding the inclusion of popular mods in the game’s next-gen update, CD Projekt previously said it had “obtained permissions from their creators, reimbursed them, and they’ll be featured in the credits of the updated game”.
