The Callisto Protocol’s ‘final chapter’ confirmed for this month, first on PlayStation

The Callisto Protocol’s “final chapter” will release late this month, developer Striking Distance has confirmed.

“Prepare for Final Transmission, the heart-pounding final chapter of The Callisto Protocol,” the developer said on Friday, confirming that PlayStation users will be able to play 48 hours early on June 27, followed by a wider release on June 29 for all other platforms.

The final chapter is included in the game’s season pass, previously referred to as “Story DLC”.

Like many less established triple-A titles released in the last year, The Callisto Protocol reportedly saw disappointing sales numbers at launch, failing to recoup a reported $162 million budget. This caused publisher Krafton to lower its target stock price in response.

According to Samsung Securities in January, Krafton had expected The Callisto Protocol to sell around five million copies. However, “considering the current sales ranking, cumulative sales of 2 million copies will not be easy until this year.”

Across the media, Callisto Protocol received a wide range of review scores, including a 9/10 from PCGamesN, a 7/10 from IGN and a 5/10 from Gamespot.

VGC’s The Callisto Protocol review called it “a solid, but safe Dead Space successor” which is lacking in originality but delivers strong strategic combat.
