Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown trailer reveals target platforms including Switch
The open world racer is also coming to PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles
Publisher Nacon and WRC studio KT Racing have released a new cinematic trailer for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.
Announced in July 2020, the third game in the Test Drive franchise’s open world Unlimited sub-series promises to let players get to grips with “extraordinary cars” in “a luxurious island world recreated at 1:1 scale”.
The title is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
“The brand new Test Drive Unlimited keeps the DNA from the first games, and revamps it for the modern era,” according to the blurb accompanying the new trailer.
“You have the freedom to progress however you like, the classic open championship concept returns too. Live your best life. Race, cruise, and hang out with your friends until the sun goes down and even after!”
In a press release distributed on Wednesday, Nacon said the series “is back in force with this first of many chapters”.
“More information will be available in July 2021,” it added, while a message displayed at the end of the new trailer reads “Next chapter: July 2021.”
Solar Crown creative director Alain Jarniou, who was one of the leads on 2006’s Test Drive Unlimited, said last July that the new game had only been in development for “several months”.
He added: “This new Test Drive Unlimited game is benefitting from all of KT Racing’s expertise in motor racing.
“This includes the physics engine used to drive the car, derived from our experience creating the entire WRC series, which helped us develop and engine that can reproduce very diverse driving conditions, whether it’s gravel, asphalt, etc.”
