Tekken 7 season pass 3 to add new fighters beginning in September

Title update also set to introduce fresh moves for all characters

Bandai Namco has announced Tekken 7 season pass 3.

The upcoming season of content will introduce new fighters, beginning with spiritual warrior Zafina in September.

She’ll be followed by a new original character, Leroy Smith, in winter 2019.

Two further characters, a new feature and a new stage are also included in the season pass.

Bandai Namco said the new season will be accompanied by a major update introducing fresh moves for all characters in the game.

The continuing post-release success of Tekken 7 makes it “harder to justify” releasing new entries in the series such as Tekken X Street Fighter, series lead Katsuhiro Harada told VGC earlier this year.

“Traditionally, the life cycle of a fighting game is very short – maybe one or two years and then you make a sequel,” the designer and producer said.

“But Tekken 7 is very successful as a service game with its DLC. That makes it much harder to justify releasing another game, while Tekken 7 is still doing so well.”

The most recent entry in the popular fighting game series released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in June 2017.

Bandai Namco said in July that Tekken 7 sales had hit four million units.
