Techland asks players who they’d like to see as the hero in Dying Light 3
“Disclaimer: This is not Dying Light 3 announcement”
Techland has asked fans what kind of hero they’d like to play as in a potential Dying Light 3.
While not an official announcement that a new game is in development, the Polish studio is gauging player interest in a sequel via a recently published Twitter poll.
Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała asked fans if they’d prefer the protagonist to be a survivor, a Nightrunner, a Pilgrim or a GRE Agent turned good, with the last option currently the most popular choice.
It’s not the first time Smektała has discussed a potential Dying Light 3.
In an interview with VGC last year, Dying Light 2: Stay Human’s lead designer said he would want the protagonist to feel more powerful in a theoretical sequel.
“I think in the third game, if it happens, that the character will start with more powers, more skills, more abilities as his basic skill set,” he said.
Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
The game sold five million copies during its launch month, according to Techland, which said prior to its release that it intended to support the open-world zombie sequel with at least five years of DLC.
Coinciding with the game’s first anniversary this February, Techland said the Dying Light franchise had topped 30 million sales.
That included over 20 million copies of the original Dying Light, which last year received a patch that improved the performance of the 2015 release when played on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
