Switch SNES controllers sell out overnight
Pad to play classic games library briefly available in the US
Wireless SNES controllers for Nintendo Switch went on sale on Monday in the US but the product was already listed as sold out by Tuesday morning.
A library of 20 SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online launched in early September.
At the time, Nintendo confirmed plans to launch previously leaked SNES controllers for Nintendo Switch to use with the new library of titles.
Nintendo of America opened SNES controller online orders for Nintendo Switch Online customers on Monday, but the product is currently listed as out of stock.
It’s priced at $29.99 and successfully placed orders will begin shipping on Wednesday September 18, according to the company’s website.
The SNES controllers have yet to go on sale in the UK, where they’ll cost £26.99.
The most recent Nintendo Switch system update, version 9.0.0., made the console compatible with wireless SNES controllers.
The SNES titles currently available for Nintendo Switch Online members include Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Star Fox, Super Metroid, Pilot Wings and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
New NES and SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online will be released “irregularly” going forward, Nintendo has said. Prior to the launch of the SNES library of games for the subscription service, new NES titles were added on a monthly basis.
