Switch SNES controllers are back on sale in Europe

Switch SNES controllers are in stock again for European Switch Online subscribers following a lengthy period of unavailability.

Nintendo says there’s limited availability of the product, which costs £26.99 plus shipping.

A library of 20 SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online launched in early September 2019.

Nintendo opened online orders for SNES controllers in North America and Europe later that month, but the products quickly sold out and have remained mostly out of stock since, apart from small periods of availability.

New NES and SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online are released on an “irregular” basis.

SNES titles Smash Tennis and Pop’n TwinBee were released in February, while a December 2019 Switch Online software update included SNES games Star Fox 2, Super Punch-Out, Kirby Super Star and Breath of Fire II.

Nintendo Switch Online has over 15 million paying members, the platform holder said in January.

It represents a significant portion of the console’s user base – Nintendo also said Switch shipments have exceeded 52 million units, with sell-through (unit sales by retailers to consumers) totalling some 48 million.
