Switch Online’s N64 app gets two more games today

Nintendo has added two more games to Switch Online’s Nintendo 64 library.

Extreme-G and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls are available in the app today, bringing the total number of N64 games available on the service in the west to 32.

Extreme-G is a high-speed, futuristic racing game, which was released on the N64 around a year before F-Zero X.

Players take control of futuristic motorbikes and race at extremely high speeds through a series of tracks.

Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls, meanwhile, is a racing platformer consisting of 100 stages. In each, players have to reach the top of a large tower, but are also competing against three other characters and have to get to the end before they do.

Both games were initially published by Acclaim, but are now owned by Throwback Entertainment. This opens up the possibility of other Throwback-owned games coming to Switch Online in the future, such as Extreme-G on N64 or Champions World Class Soccer on the SNES.

Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier launched in October 2021 alongside a library of Nintendo 64 games.

After initially being met with frustration from some players due to emulation issues, regular updates to the service have seen the emulation improve and have now remedied most major issues.

The standard Switch Online subscription gives players access to a library of NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.

To access the Nintendo 64 games, as well as Mega Drive / Genesis and Game Boy Advance games, players need to upgrade to the Switch Online Expansion Pack.
