Switch 2 accessories listed by GameStop reveal yet more details about the unannounced console
More Nintendo Switch 2 details are emerging via accessory listings
Games retailer GameStop has reportedly begun listing a range of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, potentially revealing more details about the as-yet-unannounced console.
As pictured by a Reddit user, the alleged listings suggest Nintendo Switch 2 will support MicroSD express cards. These cards are significantly faster than those supported by the current Switch console.
With MicroSD express cards, Switch 2 could theoretically support as much as 128TB of storage space. However, it’s doubtful that cards of this size will be commonly available. Those listed in the apparent GameStop snap are between 256GB and 512GB.
Other Switch 2 accessories, such as a tempered glass screen protector, a case, and a charger, are also listed. Third-party accessories are common for any console launch, however, typically the system itself has been announced before the third-party items appear.
VGC reported in the summer of 2023 that Nintendo‘s next console was already in the hands of key development partners, and that Nintendo was targeting a launch the following year. However, the system is thought to have been delayed internally to avoid shortages, and it’s now widely expected to hit shelves this year.
Switch 2 leaks have been ramping up in recent months as more third parties come into contact with the console, which is almost certainly in mass production.
Last week, supposed images of Switch 2’s Joy-Cons made their way online. If authentic, they corroborate previous claims that the Switch 2 Joy-Cons will be slightly larger, and feature a magnetic connection. It’s also speculated they could feature mouse-like support.
And at CES this week, accessory maker Genki has been showing off what it claims to be an accurate replica of the system, ahead of an alleged April 2025 launch date.
