Super Mario Bros. Movie images and details have seemingly leaked ahead of today’s trailer

Promotional images for The Super Mario Bros. Movie have seemingly leaked online, along with fresh details about the film, ahead of the release of a new trailer later today

The apparent leak, which was originally posted on 4chan before being shared on Twitter, includes various pieces of promotional imagery showing the characters and areas from the film, which are viewable below.

These include what appears to be a main ‘hero’ image which may be used as part of a poster, showing Mario, Peach, Luigi, Bowser and Toad in various poses.

They also include an image of Mario and Luigi in the real world, with a street sign saying ‘Brooklyn’, implying that some of the older Mario lore from the ’80s and ’90s is returning.

Also included in the leak are individual promotional images for the film’s heroes, each with their own slogan. Mario’s image says “Plumbing’s Our Game”, for example, while Peach’s says “she can do anything”.

According to Twitter user dfffaz01, who’s been sharing the imagery, the apparent 4chan leak also included a brief synopsis of the movie’s story.

It reads: “The movie tells the story of two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the ‘let’s-a-go’ attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere.”

It adds: “We open with the Super Mario Brothers reckoning with their struggling plumbing business, and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through the Mushroom Kingdom. Through their journey, we meet a cast of familiar, loveable characters, ultimately uniting together to defeat the power-hungry villain, Bowser.”

The leak appears to be genuine, and we may not have long to wait for official confirmation. A new Nintendo Direct dedicated to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to air later today and will include the film’s second trailer.

The film’s first trailer gave fans the first chance to hear Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario. A teaser image published on Monday suggests the second trailer may debut Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is due to be released in North America on April 7, 2023.
