This year’s Summer Game Fest opening showcase included several new game announcements over the course of its two-hour runtime, including Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Sonic Superstars.
It also featured the first Alan Wake 2 and Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay, the announcement of Spider-Man 2’s release date, plus a new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer and details.
The show was followed by Day of the Devs, an indie presentation showing off 15 interesting games from around the world, and after that came the latest comedy presentation from Devolver Digital.
Several major publishers also chose to hold product showcases coinciding with Summer Game Fest, including Microsoft (Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct), Ubisoft (Ubisoft Forward) and Capcom (Capcom Showcase).
