Street Fighter 6 has hit 1 million players in its first three days
The series has now passed 50 million copies sold, according to Capcom
A million people have played Street Fighter 6 in the three days since it was released, Capcom has said.
A post on the official Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account stated: “Street Fighter 6 has surpassed 1 million players.”
It also notes that a free gift has been added in-game to celebrate the milestone, which players are reporting is a profile title.
The tweet also claims that the Street Fighter series in its entirety has now passed 50 million copies sold.
Although player count and game sales aren’t the same, the milestone appears to bode well for the title’s future success given that Street Fighter V took three months to sell 1.4 million copies.

Street Fighter IV got off to an even faster start, selling over 3 million copies in six weeks.
Last month Capcom’s president said the company aims to sell 10 million copies of Street Fighter 6 over its lifetime.
In an interview with Famitsu, Haruhiro Tsujimoto explained that by widening the game’s scope and making the series more appealing to less ‘hardcore’ fighting game fans the company wants it to become the best-selling game in the series.
“Over the past few years, multiple titles in the Resident Evil series have sold 10 million copies, and the Monster Hunter series now has titles that are aiming for 20 million copies,” Tsujimoto explained at the time.
“Street Fighter V has already sold over 7 million copies, so if we can make use of our digital sales experience, we should be able to aim for 10 million copies with the next game.
“That’s why we’re trying to do everything we couldn’t do before with Street Fighter 6 – that’s why we’re where we are today.”
Street Fighter 6 was well received by critics, with its Metacritic score currently sitting between 89 and 92 (depending on format).
VGC’s Street Fighter 6 review called the game an “incredible fighter dripping with confidence”.
“With the three titans of the fighting game space all releasing mainline entries this year, competition is going to be stiff, but Capcom is putting its best foot forward,” we wrote. “The publisher’s incredible run continues with one of the most feature-rich, stylish, and enjoyable entries in franchise history.”
