Stellar Blade and PS5 topped the US sales chart in April
Xbox’s Sea of Thieves charted at No.4 following its PS5 release
Stellar Blade debuted atop the US software sales chart in April, while PS5 was once again the leading console platform.
Based on its launch month dollar sales, the PS5 exclusive ranks as the 16th best-selling game of 2024 so far, according to research firm Circana, which published its latest US games industry sales report on Wednesday.
Helldivers 2, which is the best-selling premium game of 2024 to date, held the No.2 spot in April, ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Xbox’s Sea of Thieves jumped 41 places to chart at No.4 in April following its PS5 release, while Fallout 4 was up 82 places to No.5 coinciding with the release of Amazon’s popular TV adaptation.
Fallout 76 jumped 151 places to No.8 in April, while another first-party Xbox game, Grounded, was up 155 places to No.12.
PS5 remained the month’s top-selling console in both unit and dollar sales. Nintendo Switch once again placed second in unit sales, while Xbox Series X/S ranked second in dollars.
Total US consumer spending on game hardware, content and accessories in April fell 3% year-over-year to $4.1 billion.
Fallout games took three of the top 10 places on the UK sales chart in April. The highest new entry on the chart was PlayStation‘s Stellar Blade, which debuted at No.12 based on its first week of sales.
