Starfield’s Shattered Space story expansion launches in September
And the REV-8 land vehicle is out today as part of the game’s latest update
A release date for Starfield’s first story expansion has been announced.
The game’s Shattered Space DLC will be released on September 30, 2024.
The release date was confirmed at the end of a new trailer, which premiered at Gamescom Opening Night Live and is viewable below.
“Deep in the dark reaches of space, the followers of the Great Serpent live shrouded in mystery,” Xbox‘s description of the expansion reads.
“Begin an epic new story and explore House Va’ruun territory in Shattered Space, Starfield’s first major expansion.”
It has also been revealed that Starfield’s latest update, which introduces the REV-8 land vehicle, is available today.
“The REV-8 drives, jumps, shoots, and can even mine for resources – and it’s Vasco-approved,” Bethesda said. “Get yours from your favorite city’s ship services technician!”
In terms of scope, Starfield game director Todd Howard has likened Shattered Space to Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion.
Recently, Howard has said he hopes to release Starfield story expansions on an annual basis.
“I would say more or less, yeah,” he said when asked by YouTube channel MrMattyPlays if Bethesda plans to release story expansions for the game on an annual basis. “How long that continues [for is uncertain], hopefully a very long time, but we’re planning for the one after this, so there will be another one.”
‘Starborn’ could be the second expansion for Starfield, after Bethesda was discovered to have trademarked the name in July.
