Starfield streams will start eight hours before release

Streamers will reportedly be able to start live streaming Starfield eight hours before the early access period begins.

Players who buy the game’s Premium Edition or Constellation Edition will get early access to Starfield starting on August 31 / September 1 (depending on time zone).

However, streamers who have been given a copy of the game by Bethesda will be able to start streaming the game as soon as the review embargo lifts, it’s claimed.

The Starfield review embargo lifts on Thursday, August 31, at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST, at which point numerous publications will publish their full reviews of the game.

At this point, streamers will then be able to start streaming the game, even though early access doesn’t start until 5pm PT / 8pm ET / 1am BST that night.

Players can already preload the title on Xbox Series X/S, and Steam preloading begins today.

Some players have already been sharing footage of Starfield early, but this hasn’t always worked out.

After drawing attention to himself for publishing approximately 40 minutes of Starfield gameplay footage on his YouTube channel, 29-year-old Darin Harris was subsequently arrested for allegedly stealing and attempting to sell copies of the game online, among other charges.

It’s alleged that Harris was responsible for uploading listings for multiple copies of the game, including its $300 Constellation Edition, to the Japanese e-commerce platform Mercari. How he managed to obtain copies of the game prior to its official release is unclear.

Starfield was originally scheduled to be released last November, but in May of 2022 the game was delayed to the first half of 2023. Bethesda announced a further delay this March, but the game is now finally set for release on September 6.
