Starfield is the fifth fastest-selling game in Europe this year
It’s also reportedly the biggest Xbox launch this generation ahead of Forza Horizon 5
Starfield is the fifth fastest-selling game in Europe this year based on its launch week performance.
That’s according to GSD data published on GamesIndustry.biz, which also reports that the game is “just about” the biggest Xbox launch this generation across Europe, ahead of Forza Horizon 5.
In terms of launch week sales, Starfield‘s performance has only only bettered by Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo 4, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The data isn’t quite like-for-like, as Starfield’s sales take into account its early access release. Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG was released on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, but players who pre-ordered its Premium Edition or Constellation Edition were able to start playing on September 1.
The data also doesn’t take into account the number of people who played Starfield via Game Pass. The standard edition of Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG was a day one release for Microsoft’s subscription service on both console and PC.

Starfield seemingly broke Microsoft‘s record for the biggest launch day for an Xbox Game Studios title.
Over six million people played the game by the end of its first official day of release, including more than one million concurrent players, according to the platform holder.
Its release also helped propel Xbox Series X/S consoles to their two biggest sales weeks of the year in the UK.
VGC’s Starfield review called it “the ultimate Bethesda game”, saying it “takes what people loved about Fallout and Skyrim and casts it across an enormous galaxy”.
Bethesda recently released Starfield’s first update and announced plans for new features set to be delivered in future patches.
