Starfield was the best-selling game in the US in September, while PS5 was once again the leading console platform.

According to Circana (formerly NPD Group) analyst Mat Piscatella, Starfield is the seventh best-selling game of 2023 year-to-date based on its launch month dollar sales, which were highest on PC.

Bethesda’s RPG, which was also made available on Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service at launch, held off competition from Mortal Kombat 1, which debuted at No.2 on the software chart and became the eighth best-selling game of 2023 year-to-date.

EA Sports FC 24 came in at No.3 on the chart. According to Circana, it saw double-digit percentage growth across both unit and dollar sales compared to FIFA 23’s September 2022 launch month. It’s already the 14th best-selling game of 2023 year-to-date.

Other new entries on last month’s software chart included Payday 3 at No.5, NBA 2K 24 at No.6 and The Crew Motorfest at No.7.

On the hardware front, PS5 remained the best-selling console platform in both unit and dollar sales last month, with Xbox Series X/S ranking second on both measures.
