Starfield console mod support is still coming, claims Todd Howard
Starfield’s Creation Kit is already in the hands of some modders
Todd Howard has reassured fans that Starfield will support console mods, and that the Creation Kit modding software is coming soon.
Howard discussed the much-requested feature during an interview with Kinda Funny Games on Monday.
When asked by a viewer about console mods, which Bethesda introduced in 2016, Howard claimed that it’s still a priority for Bethesda.
“Absolutely, 100%,” Howard responded. “We’ve seen it become such a huge thing for Fallout and Skyrim, that’s definitely something that’s really important to us.
“The thing about Starfield was that were kind of able to take learnings and kind of build that stuff from the beginning to have some long legs.”
Howard also spoke about the Creation Kit, the modding software that has been the backbone of several Bethesda titles.
Howard claimed that the Starfield version of the software has already been distributed to some modders, although Howard stopped short of giving a date when it will be released publically.
“You’re gonna hear some information about that soon. I don’t have a date to announce on when its full release is coming it’s really important to us. Our modders out there have been incredible.”
In the same interview, Howard said Bethesda is working on solutions to shorten the length of time between its game releases.
Fallout 4’s long-awaited next-gen update was released for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 last week.
