Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker scene ‘to premiere in Fortnite’

A scene from upcoming movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will reportedly be premiered via an in-game event in Fortnite.

According to credited Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, the “exclusive scene” will be premiered at Risky Reels on Saturday, December 14 at 2pm EST / 7pm BST, including an appearance from director J.J. Abrams.

Update: This has since been confirmed by Epic Games.

Original story continues: Epic recently tested an audio message that could be heard in all versions of the game by every player across the map, which could be related to the Star Wars event.

Epic has made a habit of staging elaborate in-game events to mark the close of Fortnite seasons.

To round off season seven in February, DJ star Marshmello played an exclusive in-game concert which attracted an audience of 10.7 million people, breaking the game’s record concurrent player count.

Fortnite season X’s end of season event saw the game’s map being sucked into a black hole and players left waiting for an entire day to see what would happen next.

Epic Games recently confirmed it was extending Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 1 until February 2020.

The studio said it chose to lengthen the current season “to prepare for all the new holiday-themed updates” it has lined up.
