Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection studio confirms ‘critical errors’ at launch

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection studio Aspyr has responded to the game’s negative launch.

The game, which was released on Thursday, has been met with widespread criticism on X, Reddit, and on its Steam page, where its user ratings currently stand at 19% positive.

According to some players, when the game launched some modes featured a maximum of three PC servers to accommodate the entire community. This meant that out of the over 20,000 players on PC on launch night, only 192 were able to access some of the game’s modes.

While more servers were reportedly been added in the hours since launch, players continued to report bugs, stuttering, and in some instances, weapons failing to register damage to other players.

Aspyr has now posted an update on the game’s official support page, acknowledging the issues and saying efforts are being made to remedy them.

“We’d like to thank the Battlefront community for their overwhelming support and feedback for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection release,” the statement reads.

“At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.

“Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages.

“Please continue to report bugs, errors, or unexpected behaviors to our support team via our Request Form.”

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection includes all original bonus content from the 2004 game Star Wars Battlefront and its 2005 sequel Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Each game features solo campaigns and local multiplayer matches, and is also supposed to offer massive online battles of up to 64 players, when server space allows.
