Square Enix is working on a remake with the developer of 2020’s Panzer Dragoon
Unannounced title will feature new visuals and authentic gameplay, according to announcement
Forever Entertainment, the developer of 2020’s Panzer Dragoon: Remake, will release multiple remakes based on a single Square Enix franchise, it’s announced.
As reported by Gematsu, the Polish developer has entered into an agreement with Square Enix Japan and will reveal the name of the property it will be releasing remakes for in a separate announcement.
The unannounced remakes will reportedly feature new visuals, while maintaining the same gameplay and scenario from the original game versions.
Forever Entertainment will reportedly receive over 50 percent of sales for each copy of the games sold across all platforms. This figure potentially rules out them working on Square Enix’s biggest franchises such as Final Fantasy.
Square Enix’s franchise library also includes the likes of Parasite Eve, Chrono, Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean.
Forever released Panzer Dragon: Remake for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Stadia in 2020, and will launch Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake in 2021. It’s also working on remakes of Sega’s The House of the Dead and The House of the Dead 2.
Last week Square Enix announced Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, a PS5 port of last year’s JRPG with improved visuals, significantly faster loading times, a Photo Mode, haptic feedback and a new episode featuring character Yuffie.
