Square Enix dates its E3 showcase, where it’s tipped to reveal Guardians of the Galaxy
June 13 event confirmed to feature Eidos Montréal game, Babylon’s Fall and more
Square Enix has dated its E3 2021 games showcase, which will be held on June 13.
Taking place shortly after the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, the event will kick off at 12.15pm PT / 3.15pm ET / 20.15 BST.
The company’s official announcement teased “the world premiere” of a new game from Eidos Montréal.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier subsequently tweeted: “Looks like Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy video game will be Square’s big E3 showcase this year.”
Noted insider ‘Navtra’, who has a good recent track record when it comes to PlayStation and Square Enix information, recently claimed two major Square Enix reveals were being lined up for June: a cross-gen Eidos game and a PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy title.
Fanbyte later reported that the game in question is Final Fantasy Origin, a PS5 exclusive FF spin-off being developed by Nioh and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja.
Square Enix said on Thursday that its e3 showcase will also include “an exciting update” on Platinum’s Babylon’s Fall, details about Marvel’s Avengers’ Black Panther War for Wakanda expansion, a deep dive on Life is Strange: True Colors and a first look at Life is Strange: Remastered Collection.
The publisher recently said Outriders “is on track to become its next major franchise” after People Can Fly‘s sci-fi shooter attracted over 3.5 million unique players during its launch month.
