Spider-Man 2 isn’t a co-op game, Insomniac has confirmed

Insomniac has confirmed that Spider-Man 2 won’t be a co-op game.

Speculation about the PS5 game supporting co-op began spreading on Monday, seemingly off the back of comments made by the voice actor who plays Miles Morales.

During a panel at the SacAnime convention last September, Nadji Jeter was asked if the sequel would support co-op, to which he replied: “I don’t know if it’s been announced or not, but I think so.”

The comments, which appear to be the result of a misunderstanding, seemingly flew under the radar until now, but they were widely circulated on Monday.

However, asked on Twitter if the game will be a co-op title, Insomniac quickly shot down the speculation. “Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!” the studio said.

Earlier this month, Marvel and Insomniac released a free prequel comic for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Setting the scene for the upcoming sequel, it offers a look at what Peter Parker, Miles Morales and MJ Watson have been up to since the events of Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Tony Todd, who plays Venom in Spider-Man 2, recently claimed that Sony is targeting a September release date for the game.

This is the same release window publishing sources previously told VGC to expect the highly anticipated title.

Sony is expected to show off more of Spider-Man 2, and could also confirm its release date, during a PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday.
