Space Jam: A New Legacy is getting a retro beat ’em up and 3 Xbox Series X/S controllers
The game is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate first
The upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy movie is going to be accompanied by a free-to-play game and three new Xbox Series X/S controllers.
Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game is a retro-style beat ’em up developed by Digital Eclipse, typically known as the studio behind retro compilations such as the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection and The Disney Afternoon Collection.
It has players controlling Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny and LeBron James as they fight their way through Warner Bros‘ servers to try and reach a rogue artificial intelligence called Al G.
The game is the result of a competition in which entrants were asked to come up with new game ideas, which were then made into a finished title by Digital Eclipse.
It will be available first on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from July 1, with members able to claim it through its ‘perks’ benefit programme.
It will then be free-to-play for everyone on Xbox and PC on July 15. It has not yet been confirmed if it is a Microsoft exclusive or whether it will be available on other console formats.
As well as the game, Xbox will be releasing three limited edition controllers based on characters from the movie.
The Goon Squad and Serververse controllers will be available exclusively in North America at the Microsoft Store and Amazon US, while the Tune Squad controller will be available worldwide through the Microsoft Store and other retailers.
All three controllers will be released on July 8.
