Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is reportedly in talks to play Lara Croft in Prime Video’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series.

Deadline recently reported that Turner, who played Sansa Stark in the HBO series, was among the actors who auditioned for the role.

Now its sources claim she is the current front-runner to play Lara Croft, and that negotiations are currently underway.

If successful, Turner – who also played Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and recently starred in ITV drama Joan – would be the third actor to take on the live-action Lara role, following  Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

It was announced back in May that Amazon‘s Prime Video had placed a series order for a live-action Tomb Raider adaptation.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the British actor, screenwriter and producer who won Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for her work on Fleabag, is serving as writer and executive producer on the show.

Alicia Vikander was the most recent live-action Lara Croft.

“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode,” Waller-Bridge said at the time.

“Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
