Sony video features one second from ‘every game that defined PS4’

Platform holder celebrates a generation of games ahead of PS5’s launch

Sony has released a video montage including one second from “every game that defined PS4”.

Featuring hundreds of titles, from launch games like Killzone Shadow Fall and Knack to modern hits like The Last of Us Part 2 and Fall Guys, the video was created by PlayStation Access, the official YouTube channel of PlayStation UK.

PS4 launched in November 2013 and had shipped 112 million units as of June 2020, making it the second best-selling console of all time, second only to PS2’s 155 million sales.

Sony is currently gearing up to launch PlayStation 5 on November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, and on November 19 in the rest of the world.

The company predicts PS5 sales will clear seven million units by the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2021, outperforming PS4’s launch.

However, it said in May 2019 that it expects PS4 will continue to be PlayStation’s “engine of engagement and profitability for the next three years”.

Sony recently confirmed that several games previously thought to be PS5 exclusives will also be released for PS4, including Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy A Big Adventure.

Over the weekend Sony said it’s reviewing feedback to recent changes to PS4 chat parties, following widespread criticism from players.
