Sony has launched a PlayStation 5 marketing partnership with rapper Travis Scott

Collaboration kicks off with a video featuring key people that worked on PS5

Sony Interactive Entertainment has formed a “strategic creative partnership” with US rapper Travis Scott.

PlayStation’s worldwide marketing SVP Eric Lempel announced the collaboration with Scott and his Cactus Jack brand in a PS Blog post on Friday.

“Travis is an artist who is incredibly innovative, constantly surprising, and continues to push boundaries, very much like the PlayStation brand – so we think this is a perfect fit,” he said. “When we embarked on this collaboration, the most important thing was to keep it as open as possible, to allow space to explore interesting, creative ideas.”

The partnership launches with a PS5 video created by Scott featuring some of the key people that worked on various aspects of the next-gen console.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team,” Scott said. “Most importantly I’m excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon.”

In April over 12 million concurrent players participated in a live Travis Scott concert in Fortnite.

The PS5 release date is November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, with the rest of the world getting the console on November 19.

PS5 is priced at $500/€500/£450 for the standard edition and $400/€400/£360 for the Digital Edition, with the only difference between them being the former’s inclusion of a disc drive.
