Sony has heavily discounted PS5 Slim in Europe for the first time
It’s knocked €75 off the console’s price, but some retailers are offering even greater savings
Sony appears to be in the process of rolling out its first major PlayStation 5 Slim discounts across Europe.
In Italy, the platform holder has temporarily knocked €75 off the regular price of the PS5 Slim standard edition console.
Having launched last November for €549.99, it’s currently available for €474.99 until February 25 at participating retailers including Amazon and GameStop.
Update
Sony has also reduced the price of the PS5 Slim in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Sony doesn’t appear to have publicly communicated a similar price promotion in France yet, but confirmation of one is likely imminent, as retailers there have already begun discounting the console’s price.
Cdiscount (via billbil-kun) is currently offering the console for €449, while Amazon is selling it for €474.99 as part of a “flash sale”.
VGC has contacted Sony to ask if similar PS5 Slim promotions are planned elsewhere too.
The company aims to ship 25 million PS5 consoles during its current fiscal year ending in March. If achieved, it would beat a 25-year-old console sales record set when the original PlayStation shipped 22.6 million units over a 12-month period.
PS5 launched in November 2020 and surpassed 50 million sales in December, according to Sony.
Sony’s console had outsold Xbox Series X/S, which launched in the same month as PS5, by around 2-to-1 as of the end of 2023, according to data shared last week by Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two.
