Sony has announced a free PlayStation Plus online multiplayer weekend
Access to online gaming will be offered without charge from December 10-11
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed plans to offer a free PlayStation Plus online multiplayer weekend.
Online multiplayer modes for PS4 and PS5 games will be accessible without a PlayStation Plus subscription from December 10-11, the company said.
Players who want to participate in the promotion will require an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account.
December first wave of PlayStation Plus games were made available for subscribers to claim on Tuesday.
Members can now add Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PS4), Biomutant (PS5/PS4) and Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition (PS5/PS4) to their libraries.
December’s Game Catalog line-up for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members will be announced later this month.
Sony confirmed in November that the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers had dropped by nearly two million since the service underwent a revamp in early June, which is when it introduced its current three tier structure.
In a bid to help push through its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, earlier this week Microsoft said it had offered Sony a 10-year, legally enforceable contract to make each new Call of Duty game available on PlayStation the same day it comes to Xbox.
But in a new Bloomberg interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Sony was showing little interest in negotiating with Microsoft over Call of Duty.
