Sonic X Shadow Generations has passed 2 million copies sold, Sega has said.
SegaSammy has released its financial results for the third quarter, in which it confirmed that the remake of the 2011 platformer has passed 2 million copies sold.
Sonic’s best-selling 3D game is currently Sonic Frontiers, which as of 2023 had sold 3.5 million copies, surpassing Sonic Colours, the previous franchise leader.
Sega didn’t provide updated sales data for JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio, which sold 1 million copies on its first day of release, according to Atlus.
Sonic X Shadow Generations is an updated version of the 2011 platformer Sonic Generations.
VGC’s review called it “a double helping of fan service.”
Alongside this news, Sega announced that it has cancelled Football Manager 25.
In a statement posted on the official Football Manager account on X, its developer stated that “following extensive external discussion and careful consideration with Sega“, the focus will now shift to the next game in the series.
