Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie trailer released
Film stars Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, hits cinemas in November
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for its upcoming live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Set for release in November, the adventure comedy stars Jim Carrey as antagonist Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden as Sonic’s sidekick.
Ben Schwartz is the voice actor for Sonic and Tika Sumpter also stars.
Paramount says: “The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski.
“Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.”
Films based on the Tomb Raider and Minecraft properties could also be making their way to the big screen in the next few years.
MGM and Warner Bros. have reportedly hired writer Amy Jump (Free Fire, Kill List) to pen the script for a sequel to 2018’s Tomb Raider movie, while Mojang has announced plans to release a live-action Minecraft film in March 2022.
